We are so excited by the possibilities this bond will bring to the Jay community!

BOND SCOPE

The Following Projects are included in the Bond Scope of Work.

  • High school classroom addition that will expand onto the west side to include additional restrooms, classrooms, and a science lab.

  • Cafeteria/storm shelter addition that will be built as a free-standing building on the north side of the elementary school.

  • Band room/choir room will be renovated

  • New athletic/multi-purpose facilities.

    • New field, track, stands, press box, concessions, and restrooms.

    • New field house/storm shelter will include a wrestling room, weight room, locker room, and offices.

  • All upper and lower elementary and middle school and high school students and staff will be able to take cover in safe rooms in case of a tornado.

Project 1:
Elementary Cafeteria/Kitchen Equipment+ Safe Room

This will be a 6,000-sf building to the north side of the elementary. It will include a new kitchen, male/female restrooms, and a large open dining room.

Estimated Cost: $3,320,000

* All lower elementary and upper elementary students and staff will be able to seek shelter for a tornado

Choir Class

Project 2:
Renovation of Band/
Choir Facility

Renovate existing facilities to better accommodate our Fine Arts Department. Estimated Cost: $235,000

Project 3:
Fieldhouse/Wrestling Room + Safe Room

The fieldhouse/wrestling room/safe room is a 10,500 sf building with 4,200-sf to be a storm shelter. The storm shelter portion of the building will include a wrestling room. Also included in the building will be a weight room, male/female locker rooms, office space, equipment storage, and a laundry room.

Estimated Cost: $3,445,000

All middle school and high school students and staff will be able to seek shelter for a tornado

Project 4:
High School Classroom
Addition

The classroom addition is a 5,200-sf addition that will include three classrooms, a lab, and male/female restrooms and minor cafeteria renovations. The lab will include two storage closets for lab equipment.

Project 5:
Sports/Multi-Purpose Field

The new stadium with a turf/multi-purpose field and an 8-lane track will include new home and visitor seating for 2500 people, a press box, restrooms, and concession.

Estimated Cost: $3,910,000

The Jay Administration Team and Board met with three architects and three construction companies through an interview process. We voted and selected Duane Mass of Mass Architects and Crossland Construction Company, Inc. as our Construction Manager.
